Rate of Pay: Unpaid
Status: Open Until Filled

The GIS Intern position is a position within the IT department.  Hours worked per week will be between 16 and 40, depending on course load and business need. Daily work will be determined and supervised by the GIS Supervisor and with other GIS staff as needed. Upon completion, the candidate will be evaluated against criteria determined by the internship program. This is an unpaid position.

 

• Collect GIS related data in the field.
• Assists with editing and maintenance of spatial data and databases.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of digital data and maps.
• Assists with updates and changes to reports and maps as necessary.
• Develops and maintains positive and constructive working relationships with City employees in various departments
• Assist in drone flight operation planning and execution
• Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Current college student enrolled in a course that requires acquiring real-world GIS experience, i.e. internship or practicum.
• Must have working knowledge and skill using ESRI products including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Comprehends and understands the future direction of geographic
  information systems as a geospatial science.
• Must have a valid Georgia driver's license and a satisfactory driving history, to include no DUIs in the last three years.
