Position OverviewThe Bar Manager is responsible for leading all bar operations, overseeing beverage strategy, and upholding the highest standards of service and product quality. This role blends creativity with operational excellence, ensuring the bar thrives both financially and experientially. The ideal candidate is an energetic leader with deep beverage knowledge, impeccable organizational skills, and a passion for Italian hospitality.
Key Responsibilities Operational LeadershipOversee daily bar operations, ensuring service excellence, accuracy, and consistency.
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar according to health and safety standards.
Implement systems for efficiency—prep lists, pars, checklists, recipe books, storage organization.
Collaborate with management to support seamless front-of-house operations.
Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor bartenders and barbacks.
Lead by example with hospitality, discipline, and a guest-first mentality.
Conduct ongoing training on cocktails, wine, amaros, steps of service, and responsible alcohol service.
Foster a positive, inclusive, team-oriented culture.
Develop and maintain a seasonal, Italian-leaning cocktail program that is balanced, profitable, and on-brand.
Curate amaro, vermouth, vermouth-based, and Italian spirit selections.
Partner with ownership/GM on wine list updates and pairings.
Maintain detailed recipe specs and enforce consistent execution.
Manage beverage cost targets, inventory, and ordering.
Optimize vendor relationships and negotiate pricing when appropriate.
Track and analyze beverage sales trends to drive revenue.
Reduce loss through effective training, portion control, and waste management.
Deliver warm, genuine Italian hospitality to every guest.
Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
Cultivate regulars and foster a welcoming bar environment that drives repeat business.
Ensure adherence to all state and local alcohol regulations.
Uphold safety, sanitation, and company policies at all times.
Maintain ServSafe/Responsible Service certifications.
3+ years bartending experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant.
1–2 years of bar leadership or lead bartender experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of Italian spirits, classic cocktails, and wine fundamentals.
Proven ability to manage costs, ordering, inventory, and staff.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
