Position Summary

The Wine Director will be at the forefront of our wine program, overseeing the selection, curation, and presentation of our wines. This role demands a deep understanding of wine, a passion for education, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences. The Wine Director will work closely with our general manager, staff, and owner to ensure that our wines are showcased in a way that aligns with our brand's values and goals.

Position Responsibilities

Serve as the leading ambassador of our wine program, exemplifying excellence in wine knowledge and customer service.
Curate and manage our wine list, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection that reflects our brand’s identity and the unique terroir of Paso Robles.
Conduct staff training sessions on wine knowledge, service techniques, and food and wine pairings to enhance overall guest experience.
Oversee wine purchasing, inventory management, and cost control, ensuring optimal stock levels and budget adherence.
Develop and execute wine events, tastings, and educational programs to engage guests and enhance their understanding and appreciation of our wines.
Collaborate with the culinary team to create harmonious wine pairings for our tasting room and special events.
Build and maintain relationships with wine distributors, suppliers, and industry professionals to stay informed about market trends and emerging wines.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of wine, including viticulture, enology, and food and wine pairings.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a wine-related role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or director position.
Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and create memorable guest experiences.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to educate and inspire both staff and guests.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing business needs.
Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
WSET Level 3 or higher certification, Court of Master Sommeliers certification, or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of Paso Robles wineries and the local wine industry is a plus.
