About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced WebSphere Administrator to join our team. In this role, you'll be at the heart of managing and optimizing our WebSphere application server environment. You'll work closely with development teams to ensure seamless application deployment and support while keeping our systems running smoothly and securely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage WebSphere Software: Install, configure, and maintain WebSphere application server software and related components to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
- Monitor Performance: Keep an eye on system performance and make sure everything is running efficiently.
- Troubleshoot Issues: Diagnose and resolve issues with WebSphere software and components.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work with development teams to deploy and support applications on the WebSphere platform.
- Enhance Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect the WebSphere environment.
- Automate Processes: Develop and manage scripts to automate and monitor WebSphere components.
- Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Plan and Upgrade: Participate in planning and executing capacity upgrades and system improvements.
- Optimize Performance: Conduct performance tuning to enhance the efficiency of WebSphere application servers.
- Provide Support: Offer technical support and guidance to internal teams and users.
- Document Work: Document procedures, configurations, and changes for future reference.
- Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest WebSphere technology and best practices.
- Integrate Systems: Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth integration of WebSphere with other systems.
- On-Call Support: Be available for on-call support to address critical issues outside regular hours.
- Evaluate New Tools: Assist in evaluating and recommending new tools and technologies for WebSphere.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as a WebSphere Administrator or in a similar role.
- Skills:
- Strong expertise in WebSphere application server installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with performance monitoring and tuning.
- Knowledge of security best practices and implementing security measures.
- Ability to develop automation scripts for administration tasks.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Understanding of capacity planning and upgrade projects.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience documenting procedures and changes.
- Up-to-date knowledge of WebSphere technology and best practices.
- Willingness to provide on-call support and handle critical issues outside regular business hours.
- Certifications: IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server is a plus.
Desired Skills:
- Technical Proficiency:
- Experience with Python, shell scripting, WebSphere, Ansible.
- Familiarity with WebSphere Liberty, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, JSON, Terraform), and automation.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/OCP).
- Experience with IBM WebSphere, JBOSS, WebLogic, IIS.
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Ability to lead troubleshooting and analysis activities for middleware technologies including Web Applications Server Services, Messaging, File Transfer, and Business Intelligence Services.
