Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer to drive the evolution of our core data infrastructure with a focus on scalability, security, and reliability. This role will shape the future of analytics, machine learning, and product innovation across the company. We’re looking for a systems thinker who understands how to run Snowflake at scale — someone who can reason about performance under load, data flows through complex architectures, and how to automate for resilience and efficiency.
You will design, manage, and optimize our Snowflake environment while building automation that delivers cost-effective, high-performance access to data. You will influence teams to adopt best practices in Snowflake performance and security.
What You'll Accomplish
- Manage, optimize, and secure the Snowflake environment to ensure reliable, high-performance access to data at scale
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform, Spacelift, etc.) for consistent and auditable environments
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and SLA enforcement to keep the platform highly available and resilient
- Optimize queries, storage, and compute usage to deliver fast, cost-efficient workloads
- Enforce security policies, access controls, and compliance standards (e.g., SOC2) across the platform
- Automate workflows, streamline operational processes, and maintain clear documentation and runbooks
- Partner closely with our Snowflake account team to ensure alignment and accountability
- Collaborate with BI, ML, Data Science, and Engineering teams to support evolving data needs and accelerate product delivery
Your Expertise
- Proven experience managing Snowflake at scale, including administration, monitoring, scaling, and optimization
- Strong background with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Spacelift, or equivalent)
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, query performance tuning, and workload cost optimization
- Hands-on experience implementing security, compliance, and governance controls in data platforms
- Proficiency in automation (scripting, workflows) and operational excellence (runbooks, escalation processes)
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering across BI, ML, Product, and Data Science teams
- Ability to train, enable, and influence teams to adopt best practices in Snowflake performance and security
- Curiosity and drive to stay ahead of Snowflake advancements, cloud infrastructure trends, and data platform best practices
What We Use
- Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
- Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm
- Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS
- Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
- Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace 🤗, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas
