Under the direction of the Program Manager with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), Division of Occupational Safety and Health(DOSH), Consultation Services Branch, the Senior Safety Engineer (Industrial) is responsible for performing the full range of professional level senior safety engineering work in construction, electrical, and industrial functions related to the Cal/OSHA program. The Senior Safety Engineer (Industrial) conducts, including but not limited to, specialized safety and health inspections, loss analysis, and consultation assignments related to construction, electrical, and industrial occupational safety and health, (work that requires or involves extensive experience, knowledge and skills in safety and health principles, practices and methods) throughout the State; assist the Program Manager and Regional Manager in developing procedures and guidelines for conducting audits, inspections, and injury and illness analysis; leads, plans, organizes, reviews and directs the work of teams assigned to perform consultation inspections, partnership evaluations and special assignments; coordinate and assist the Area Manager to help improve staff performance through field training and mentorship to improve consultant development in accordance to their individual development plan; perform in- service and on-the-job training of staff, and works in an assigned area office and travels throughout the state as required.

Senior Safety Engineers are to perform all work in accordance with DIR-DOSH policies, DOSH Consultation Policy and Procedure Manual, Directives, and Memorandums.

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) highlighting your experience that qualifies you for this position must accompany the application. A resume or cover letter cannot be submitted in lieu of the SOQ.
