Role: Senior Database Administrator
Location: Remote (within the US)
Compensation: $94,745 to $159,206 per year
About the Role:
As a Senior Database Administrator, you'll play a crucial role in managing, supporting, and optimizing our SQL systems. You'll be involved in everything from performance tuning and system monitoring to data migrations and disaster recovery planning. Key Responsibilities:
System Management: Ensure system availability and recovery by executing performance tuning, backups, and restorations for SQL Server databases.
Daily Administration: Oversee the daily management of Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure, maintaining databases across Development, QA, and Production environments.
Performance Optimization: Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain high service quality.
Security & Compliance: Implement security measures to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaboration: Work with business users, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure high-quality database solutions.
Documentation: Document database maintenance procedures and ensure that policies and procedures are up-to-date.
Server Maintenance: Keep SQL servers updated with necessary patches and manage database changes in production environments.
Migration & Upgrades: Perform server migrations and upgrades as needed.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in managing complex SQL Server environments.
Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016 or newer.
Strong understanding of relational databases, T-SQL scripting, and database design best practices.
Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
Experience with SQL Server in Azure (Azure SQL Database; SQL on Azure VM).
Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and design database objects (stored procedures, functions, tables, etc.).
Preferred Experience:
Experience migrating SQL Server to Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of SQL Server AlwaysOn high availability and replication.
Familiarity with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Service Broker.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
