News Writer/Producer

Location: Atlanta - GA

Duration: 5+ Months

Note: This is a swing shift position.

Job Responsibilities:

• The 5 Things AM Writer/Producer works closely with the newsletter Editor to select articles, videos and other content to feature in Client's flagship newsletter.
• They write the newsletter Monday – Friday, crafting a summary of top news of the day and feature content in time for edits to take place before the email's 7am ET send each day.
• The Writer/Producer is also responsible for writing a weekly news quiz.
• As part of the Newsletter-Audience Strategy team, they will help identify and execute opportunities to enhance 5 Things, ensuring the newsletter resonates with audiences.

Must Have Skills:

• 5+ Years of news writing or reporting preferred.
• Strong News Judgment
• Previous experience working for News Organization, understanding the nuances associated with writing and editing roles within News Orgs.
• Deadline Oriented (Screened for in interview)
• Must be comfortable and have experience working with changing deadlines and keeping communications organized.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Knowledge base on communication apps – ability to jump between messaging channels to keep up with Team communications.
• Ability to follow breaking news closely without instruction or guidance. News awareness.
• Understanding of newsletter audience strategy and success metrics is preferred.

Soft Skills:

• Deadline oriented.
• Strong news judgment.
• Must have the ability to generate enterprise ideas and work well independently and with a team.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require.

Education:

• A bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study or equivalent experience.

Additional Notes:

• This is a swing shift role. Candidates must be able to work during Hong Kong Standard Time hours.
• Remote position – Anywhere in the US.
