Albertville City Schools and Spur Staffing are seeking an experienced Mental Health Coach to assist in that school district. The Mental Health Coach assists students in overcoming barriers to the learning process. Mental Health Coaches work with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to identify and address social, emotional, and mental health needs that prevent students from achieving academic success. Mental health coaches do not diagnose or offer professional care or treatment for mental health difficulties and disorders. Coaches support positive change by helping students manage symptoms, build support for overall well-being , and work on life goals such as relationships, work, and education. This position pays $30.00 per hour.
Mental Health Coaches provide a wide range of services with the overall goal of maximizing student potential. Services include:
● Assist students with setting and achieving academic & life goals
● Connect students with community resources and supports
● Support students in managing mental health symptoms
● Promote overall health and well-being for students
● Empower students in making healthy, goal-oriented decisions
● Mentor and guide peer helpers as they support their fellow students
● Model effective communication skills and healthy, appropriate boundaries
● Maintain confidentiality per legal and district requirements
● Report suspected child abuse/neglect to the designated agency
● Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
● Document all student and family contacts as required
● Demonstrate proficiency in using cloud-based applications (i.e., Google Drive) and
Microsoft Office applications
● Collaborate with school counselors to provide prevention and intervention activities
● Participate in crisis intervention and postvention as needed
● Attend professional development trainings and staff meetings as scheduled
