Position Summary...
Automated Pickup & Delivery (APD) centers are Walmart’s automated grocery fulfillment facilities that combine robotics, software orchestration,
and store operations to fulfill high volumes of online grocery orders efficiently.
APDs are designed to:
- Scale order capacity per store
- Improve labor efficiency and cost per order
- Enable consistent, repeatable deployment of automation across the network
They sit at the intersection of supply chain strategy, software platforms, and physical automation, making them a core growth lever for
Walmart’s eCommerce and grocery businesses.
What you'll do...
The APD Product Management Intern (MBA) will act as a
junior product manager , owning a scoped product or business problem within Walmart’ s APD ecosystem. The role emphasizes
structured problem solving, data-backed recommendations, and cross-functional alignment. This intern will be expected to operate with higher autonomy and influence than an undergraduate intern, producing work that directly informs roadmap and execution decisions.
Key Responsibilities: - Own a defined APD product or business problem , such as throughput, labor efficiency, or scalability
- Lead structured discovery across product, engineering, and operations stakeholders
- Analyze operational and financial data to frame tradeoffs and prioritize solutions
- Develop product recommendations i ncluding:
- Problem definition and success metrics
- Solution options and tradeoffs
- Pilot or rollout considerations
- Use AI tools to accelerate synthesis, modeling, and communication
- Present findings to product and leadership forums
Sample Intern Projects :
- Own an analysis of what limits throughput or productivity in a specific APD workflow and propose product or system-level solutions
- Develop a business case comparing multiple solution paths (e.g., software changes vs. process changes vs. tooling investment)
- Define a pilot proposal for improving orchestration, scheduling, or visibility, including success metrics
- Create a scaling or standardization framework that reduces site-to-site variability
Qualifications: - Currently pursuing an MBA
- Prior experience in consulting, operations, analytics, or product strongly preferred
- Strong structured thinking and executive communication skills
- AI-first mindset and experience applying AI tools to business workflows
- Comfort working with data (SQL, dashboards, or analytical models preferred)
- Interest in automation, AI, and large-scale operational systems
- A successful candidate will not require sponsorship

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
