Job Description

A leading metals recycling operation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and team leadership across multiple facilities. This role manages a traveling crew and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance of heavy machinery and hydraulic systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a maintenance team serving multiple yard locations.

• Oversee inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of hydraulic systems, material handlers, mobile equipment, balers, shears, shredders, and related machinery.

• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.

• Coordinate repair priorities and emergency response activities to keep operations running efficiently.

• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment logs.

• Enforce safety standards, compliance policies, and environmental guidelines.

• Manage parts inventory, vendors, and procurement needs.

• Mentor and train technicians, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with leadership to align maintenance objectives with operational goals.

• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for maintenance operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years metals recycling industry heavy equipment maintenance experience.

• Knowledgeable in hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical troubleshooting.

• Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams, including mobile crews.

• Familiarity with OSHA and other applicable safety standards.

• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• CMMS experience preferred.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly.

• Certifications in hydraulics, welding, or heavy equipment repair preferred.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
