Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO )
## Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team supporting the Federal Judiciary in its cybersecurity efforts. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive information security programs to protect the Federal Judiciary's critical data and systems.
Key Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) for the Federal Judiciary's information systems
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities
- Implement and manage security controls in accordance with federal guidelines and best practices
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security measures are integrated into all aspects of system development and operations
- Monitor security systems and respond to security incidents in a timely manner
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation
- Conduct security awareness training for Federal Judiciary staff
- Manage the process for granting, modifying, and revoking system access
- Coordinate with external auditors and assessors during security audits and assessments
- Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices
- Provide regular security status reports to management
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in information security, with at least 3 years in a senior security role
- In-depth knowledge of information security principles, best practices, and relevant federal regulations (e.g., FISMA, NIST guidelines)
- Experience with developing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs)
- Proficiency in various security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM)
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts and practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Required Certifications - CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or equivalent
- Additional certifications such as CISM, CEH, or GIAC Security Expert are a plus

Special Requirements - May require occasional after-hours work for system maintenance or incident response
