Position overview:

 

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Division of Medical Programs, Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services is seeking to hire a Hardship & Litigation Supervisor with medical billing knowledge as well as leadership skills for the Institutional Billing and Payment Support Section. This position will direct the Statewide Hardship and Litigation Billing Program, conduct complex projects as well as assist with policy development for the section.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, a good communicator with a depth of administrative knowledge and experience in the field of management or public policy. It is imperative that the successful candidate possess organizational skills, writing skills, and extensive leadership and management skills.

Essential Functions

  • Subject to management approval, serves as the Hardship and Litigation Supervisor by planning, directing and evaluating the Statewide Hardship and Litigation Billing Programs related to the Payment Support Program
  • Serves as working supervisor
  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates existing and proposed policies. rules and regulations relative to Hardship and Litigation Billing Program
  • Serves as liaison with agency staff to discuss intra-agency issues that affect the Medicaid Programs
  • Plans, organizes and conducts comprehensive studies and special projects
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience using an Electronic Data Warehouse system in a data analysis role
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience supervising professional staff
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience developing policies for a medical prior approval program
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience establishing service objectives, activities and operational systems
  • Minimum of one (1) year of medical billing experience in a Private Health and Human Services/Medical Social Work organization
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience with public and business administration principles and practices, preferably in Medicaid programs

  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
  • Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
