Job Description

Perform all duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor/Manager/Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Must be knowledgeable or willing to learn all basic aspects of general landscaping, including planting, pruning, shearing, mulching, mowing, trimming, blowing, leaf removal, snow removal, watering, policing grounds, trash removal, paver or wall installations, grading and turf renovation, sod installation, fertilizer and pesticide application, weeding, tree removal, and basic computer/record keeping. 
• May be asked to assist any other department within the campus community and will be required to perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor/Manager/Director. 
• Must be willing and able to work independently without supervision. 
• Snow removal duties will be necessary seasonally. 
• A uniform, issued by MSMU will be required. 
• Will assist with logistical events as needed.
• May be asked to assist any other department within the campus community and will be required to perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor/Manager/Director. Must be willing and able to work independently without supervision.

Equipment Operations and Maintenance: 

Must understand or be willing to learn basic operation and maintenance of backpack blowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, riding/walk-behind mowers with attachments, aerators, snow blowers, UTVs with spraying units, spreaders and plows, Hustlers, skid loaders with attachments and forklifts, tractors and attachments, backhoes, trucks with snow plows, spreaders, trailers, floor cleaning/polishing equipment and dollies. Employees may be asked to use any other equipment used by MSMU.

Job Hours:

Standard Grounds hours are Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. including weekend rotation as needed unless otherwise specified. Logistical hours will vary depending upon University events but will typically range between 6:30 am-8:00 pm with varying weekly schedules. 
Overtime during weekdays, weekends and holidays will be required as needed for Grounds. 
A weekend rotation schedule will be implemented depending upon staffing, workloads and University events. 
Any schedule may be adjusted as needed and some overnights will be required with inclement weather, university events or campus emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy loads. 
• Must be able to work in all types of weather.
• Must be able to work well as a team.

Salary/Benefits

• Minimum Pay Rate: $15.50/hr
• This is a full-time position with full benefits and annual, holiday and sick leave.
