Job Description

The Choose Children Campaign Manager is the central coordinator and facilitator of activities, meetings, operations, and relationships for Choose Children including relationships with gubernatorial candidates and their staff. They will have the support of Choose Children’s steering committee of coalition partners who provide general direction, contacts, and insights. They ensure strategies are implemented, relationships are forged and strengthened, and communications flow seamlessly between all campaign partners and funders, including the 58-county First 5 Commissions. They also oversee the operations of Choose Children including contractual relationships, budget and expense tracking, strategy planning, and supporting fund development activities as needed. As a member of the First 5 Association/CACFF team, all of their work is rooted in the organization’s Core Values.

At this time, this position is supported by grant funding for up to 24 months. The position will be housed at the First 5 Association/CACFF and will report to the Director of Government Affairs. First 5 Association/CACFF utilizes a fully remote operation within the state of California.

Knowledge, Skills, and Education

● Demonstrated full-scale project management skills and applications

● Demonstrated ability to facilitate networks, groups, and coalitions, with multiple perspectives, toward common purpose and collective efforts

● Experience working on multi-strategy social impact policy initiatives, e.g. collective impact efforts, or political campaigns

● Self-starter, proactive, and ability to manage up to supervisors and members of a steering committee

● Understanding of program budgeting, grantmaking, and contracting

● Excellent communication skills and highly effective presenter, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly, both orally and written

● Excellent interpersonal skills, approachable, strong listening and synthesis skills, ability to maintain composure in a range of situations, acts with high degree of integrity and trust, dedicated to continuing to learn and grow professionally

● Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, ever evolving environment;

● Team oriented, collaborative with capacity to build strong peer relationships and work effectively on cross-functional issues and teams

● Ability to maintain data and information in data systems and/or spreadsheets, and present it in ways that are accessible and useful to a wide range of colleagues

● Knowledge of the political process in California strongly preferred

● Knowledge of California children’s and family issues strongly preferred

● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and shareable file platforms including Sharepoint and Google Drive.
