Clark’s Oyster Bar, part of MML Hospitality, is opening its newest location in Menlo Park, California, in April 2025. Known for our exceptional oysters, martinis, lobster rolls, champagne, and signature dishes, we’re excited to bring the Clark’s experience to this vibrant community. With a nod to the 1950s, our design blends oak, terracotta, and leather, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. With ~100 seats, including a private dining room, we aim to be a neighborhood staple, where locals and visitors alike come to enjoy outstanding food, drinks, and service.

Job Summary:

As a Bartender you will act as an extension of the restaurant, and as such, steps of service, time standards, and genuine hospitality should be the same from the bar as the servers on the floor. In this position, you must possess a sense of urgency, provide friendly service, and maintain great communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome each guest and be aware of tone and body language at all times
  • Inputs drink orders into the POS system immediately after the drink has been made, collecting payment from guests for drinks served
  • Responsibly serve alcohol and have awareness of guests’ state of intoxication
  • Anticipate guests’ needs and acknowledge guests so they know you will be right with them
  • Complete all side work as assigned
  • Communicate with other staff and management regarding the needs of the guest
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Minimum of 1-year of bartending experience required
  • Current California Food Handler’s and RBS certification required.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively
  • Ability to read menus, safety documents, etc.
  • Prior experience with POS systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping required to prepare beverages, restock supplies, and perform side work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 35 pounds, such as cases of alcohol, kegs, and other bar supplies.
  • Manual dexterity needed for pouring, mixing, and garnishing beverages as well as handling glassware and operating point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Ability to move efficiently in a confined bar area, sometimes in a fast-paced or crowded environment.
  • Work may include exposure to varying levels of noise and temperature changes.
