PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Assistant Culvert/Ditching Supervisor is responsible for completing scheduled, periodic and emergency culvert inspections and providing feedback based on observed field conditions. They provide oversight of both CPKC and contractor maintenance employees, as well as facilitating action plans based on detailed inspection results with the Railroad Bridge Engineer and SR. Manager of Structures and Field Operations.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Complete culvert inspections in accordance with FRA standards CPKC management plan.
• Audits culvert maintenance/renewal work for compliance with CPKC Structures Red Book and guidelines
• Make recommendations to the Manager of Culverts/Ditching in regards to inspection details.
• Complete inspections and document information into inspection data base as directed by Railroad Bridge Engineer
• Maintains relationships with engineering employees on their geographic territories

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Drivers License
• Railroad inspection, maintenance or construction experience is (preferred)
• Basic Computer Skills (excel, word, power point) for inspection documentation
• Basic knowledge in the use of laser levels or transits for shooting grades and elevations
• Use of basic hand tools
• Applicant must be able to work in all types of conditions: rain, snow, ice, mud, steep uneven slopes, brushy/overgrown terrain, insects, reptiles and animals may be encountered

Medical Requirements:
CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.  This position is a  safety sensitive position ; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.

The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances:       

• Criminal history check
• Reference check
• Education verification
• Last 3 years of driving history
• Last 7 years of employment history; includes military
• Social Security number verification

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
